Charity Events

On the first Sunday of every December, the Carlsbad Village Community celebrates their annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Carlsbad Village Tree Lighting Ceremony was hosted by Carlsbad Rotary this year and was located at the Shops at Village Faire. This free event in Carlsbad Village featured cider and cookies, storytelling, craft project for the children, photos with Santa, and of course the tree lighting ceremony.  The celebration began today at 2pm with a variety of musical and dance performances from local talent including the Lancer Dancers and a visit from Santa Clause himself.

The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony seemed to put everyone in the holiday spirit as smiling kids did crafts and ate cookies while parents drank cider and watched the local talent perform musical and dance routines. The new Carlsbad CA mayor, Matt Hall had the honor of lighting the Christmas Tree this year which took place a little early at about 4:30pm to avoid some possible rainy weather conditions.

The 4th annual La Costa Greens Carlsbad food drive is taking place November 1st through November 30th. All canned foods, non-perishables, and personal care items would greatly benefit this event. Examples of useful contributions are canned tuna, stews or chili, canned soups, canned fruits and vegetables, dry rice or beans, uncooked pastas noodles, peanut butter, dry cereals, or any type of personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes and soap or toiletries.

Donations to the La Costa Greens Carlsbad food drive will benefit the North County Food Bank. The North County Food Bank serves over 50 non-profit agencies in the North County San Diego area. All of these participating non-profit agencies serve people and families who seek food assistance due to temporary hardships, unemployment, or people who are on a fixed income, disabled, or are homeless.

Your contribution to the La Costa Greens Carlsbad food drive can be dropped off at the recreation office located at 2341 Lapis Rd Carlsbad, CA 92009.
